Dr. Sam Chung - Dr. Chung is an advisor to The Tradex Group and the Relative Value strategy. Dr. Sam Y. Chung is a Tenured Professor of Finance at the School of Business - Long Island University. Dr. Chung has been the Dean of the Graduate School of Finance at Seoul School of Integrated Science and Technology (aSSIST) and the director of Korea Alternative Investment Research Institute (KAIRI) since 2014. He has been the Academic Advisor of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association, a research associate of the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets at the University of Massachusetts and an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Alternative Investments. Since 2010, Dr. Chung has also advised Korea Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Services regarding Hedge Fund and other Alternative Investments regulatory policies in Korea. In the hedge fund industry, Dr. Chung has had 20+ years of experience as an active researcher, advisor and senior portfolio manager.
Dr. Chung received his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Master of Finance from Boston College, and M.B.A from Illinois State University. He has published various articles in Journals such as the Journal of International Business and Finance, the Journal of Alternative Investment along with numerous research and consulting endeavors in the area of financial risk management and measurement. His current research interests include: Risk Measurement (VaR) and Management through Derivatives Markets, Alternative Investment (Hedge Funds, CTAs, Managed Futures, etc.) strategies, Futures Market Microstructure, and International Banking and Finance. He is an active member of both academic and practical affiliations such as American Finance Association (AFA), Financial Management Association (FMA), European Finance Association (EFA), Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), and Korea-America Finance Association (KAFA).
